Car trouble can be very frustrating and expensive especially for people who rely on their vehicle to get around on a daily basis. Even though automobiles play an essential role our daily lives, it's likely that many motorists lack the basic knowledge about how they work or what problems could arise. If you really wish to optimize your money and drive your car the way it should then you need to get it serviced at the right time. It's important to have your car inspected and serviced by a professional mechanic on a regular basis. Unaddressed issues can shorten your vehicle’s lifespan and compromise you and your vehicle's safety.

Everyone of us need is an unexpected breakdown or costly repairs. As the saying goes, ‘prevention is the best cure’ and so, with this in mind, we’ve put together a list of possible warning signs to help you avoid a surprise break down and costly repairs!

Look for these warning signs that your car may need inspection or repairs:-

1-Engine warning light :-
There are certain cars these days, which flashlight like a spammer and is the light for the reminder of the next service that does not require immediate attention. These are the most obvious and straightforward signs that your car needs due care and attention! They are the first and most obvious reason to have your engine checked sooner rather than later. However, when there is a flashing warning light on your car’s dashboard, this is an indicator of a major problem with one of your car’s systems. If you see a flashing warning light on your car, book it in for a service as soon as possible.

2-Vibration :-
The problem with this warning sign is that it is often so mild and slow to progress that you barely notice it. After a bit, it feels normal, even as it worsens. However, if you notice your car is vibrating while you are driving, there is a very good chance that you either need new tires or you simply need your alignment adjusted.
If your tires are not aligned properly, it can result in uneven wear on them. If you don’t have all-wheel or four-wheel drive, you will probably only need the front wheels aligned. The process simply squares the axles and wheels, so they are moving properly in the same direction.Vibration

3-Poor Fuel Mileage :-
When you feel like you are getting fewer miles out of a gallon of gas yet you usually feel the gas tank often and you are driving the same distance then your car might be experiencing poor fuel mileage. A reduction in fuel mileage means your car is not operating as efficiently as it is supposed to. This could be due to a sticking pad or improper tire pressure and is a sign that your car needs some servicing before a much worse problem occurs.

4-Abnormal Handling :-
If you drive your car frequently, you will become used to how it feels to drive. Any differences in the handling, such as difficulty steering or veering to one side involuntarily, should be cause for concern. During a service, a trained professional will be able to identify and diagnose the cause of the handling problem so that it can be fixed.

5-Emission Of Smoke From The Bonnet :-
The smoke emission from the car is caused due to overheating of the radiator and it’s a warning sign to stop the car immediately. It’s always recommendable to keep an eye on the gauge after driving a car for long distances and if the needle is in the middle of the gauge than their no need to hassle but if the needle is at the right top than this cannot be ignored and a warning sign to stop the car immediately.
If you notice blue smoke coming from your car, stop where it’s safe to do so and get someone to tow your car to the garageBlue smoke is caused by burning oil, and can be quite a costly problem if left unfixed. Excessive smoke from the exhaust can also signal an oil leak.

This could be caused by a range of problems including:-
  • Piston wear.
  • Worn valve seals.
  • Worn piston rings.
  • An intake manifold gas leak.
  • Worn engine oil seals.
  • Head gasket failure.
6-Slow Starting :-
If your vehicle act like it desperately needs a morning cup of coffee when you start it? This is a clear indicator that you will need a new battery soon. Sure, it eventually starts after a bit of hesitation, but don’t be fooled thinking you have plenty of time to deal with it. Batteries can be pretty unpredictable when they get to a certain point. Plus, batteries are fairly inexpensive and this is a quick fix. You probably need an oil change anyway, so just have the dealership handle both while you are there.

7-Peculiar Sounds :-
While driving a car, you might witness unusual sounds such as squealing of brakes, whining under the bonnet, louder than usual grunting sound from the exhaust are signs that your car needs to be scrutinized.
Meaning of some of the sounds that you might hear from your car is as follows:-
  • Munching sound from the gears- If you hear the crunching sound from the gears while changing the gears then it’s probably due to wear and tear of the gearbox and fluids and certain parts need replacement.
  • Whining sound under the bonnet- If you hear grunting sound from the bonnet, then it is due to the loosening of a belt and it can lead to all sort of issues from overheating to battery problems.

8-Leaks :-
If any leaks underneath your vehicle are an indication that your car needs to be serviced as soon as possible especially if the leaks keep occurring. You can tell your vehicle is leaking from spills when you move it from where it’s normally parked. Look out for a dark colored stain for engine oil, transmission oil or brake fluid leaks towards the front of the car or any unusual leaking from the car exhaust pipe.
